I am not too familiar with dcmtk internal. What if they introduce some
kind of backward incompatibility. I would think people would like to
keep a stable release around, while use the snapshot when
decompression went wrong and corrupted there data. See

Is this documented somewhere ? I'll talk to the dcmtk folks to see
