My laptop has an e1000:

$ lspci | grep -i net
00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82562GT 10/100 Network
Connection (rev 03)
10:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11a/b/g (rev 02)
$

$ lsmod | grep e1000
e1000e                 84612  0
$

...and I installed Debian here months ago (last Christmas ;) ). At the time it
was just "e1000", then it became "e1000e", IIRC.
