Thanks for your quick reply!
Hi again,
I'm re-adding the live mailing list to the recipients to continue the
thread.
Sorry, but I got confuse with your feedback, do you think this is an
error
in the documentation? or in the implementation of the debian live?
Yeah, I must admit that my reply was indeed too loose. What I really
meant was:
1.- The debian-live/Live Systems documentation was correct when it
used the name "live-persistence.conf"
*before* the commit I linked to in my previous mail.
And:
2.- The debian-live/Live Systems documentation was correct when it
used the name "persistence.conf"
*after* the commit I linked to in my previous mail.
Sorry if this is still confusing for you. Let me explain:
The initial name of the file used to configure custom mounts for the
new persistence feature was "live-persistence.conf" This name was used
for a short period of time. I do not exactly remember how long but it
should be easy to check looking at the changelog. After that, it was
changed to "persistence.conf". So to cut a long story short, the
derivative you are using is either using a very old and
outdated/unsuported live-boot version or you are using a very old and
outdated documentation. I hope I got it right this time :)
Let me rephrase it, just to summarize it: the documentation in
live-manual in respect to persistence in its stable version is
correct, tested and up-to-date (as much as can be).
If I can, I could help with the documentation part.
Thanks, that would be awesome! The debian-next branch of the live
repositories is world writable. So feel free to contribute at any
time. But just as a side note, always check the debian-next branch
before pointing out any mistake/error you may find. I mean that if you
find an error/typo/translation inconsistency or whatever in the stable
branch, it might have already been fixed in the debian-next one. The
process on how to contribute to live-manual can be found at:
http://live-systems.org/manual/current/html/live-manual.en.html#43
And how to contribute to the project (git stuff and other things):
http://live-systems.org/manual/current/html/live-manual.en.html#643
I hope this helps :)
