And how do you know that they did not modify the script or use a different one?

Actually a script that *requires* user interaction is sort of bad in
itself. Look at debconf - it asks the user but you can prefill the
answers or leave them at defaults, or trim the priority of the
questions to ask.

If the script requires user input and does not include defaults for
the case when interaction is not wanted then it is clearly broken.
