The debhelper documantion now actually mention that feature, in
debhelper(7), section COMPATIBILITY LEVELS.
I am basically doing that change pretty much in every package I touch,
but the limits are mostly on backport costriction (Ubuntu
xenial(-backports) doesn't have a new enough debhelper, but Debian
stretch-backports does), and in case of very odd packages as it doesn't
support architecture and build profiles restrictions.
But I'm also worried about people not knowing of this very new feature
and being surprised to see d/compat gone…
