I have no idea regarding the daily release. The nice thing about failed
installations is that you can simply install over the old one. If you have
trouble with the standard debian installation, then you could try the daily
release or maybe (K)Ubuntu. As long as the computer's components are known
to work with some version of the kernel you should be ok. Just in case, you
could try to buy from a place that will let you return the laptop if you
decide you don't like it.
