Yes yes, I know this.  I get an error on boot -- "invalid mode" -- and
am aked to choose from 8 or 9 text-only modes.  (should have said this
earlier) That is, as far as I can tell, VESAFB doesn't take command of
the framebuffer.

... I think Im going to give it up as a lost cause -- maybe sometime
down the road I'll figure ito ut!
