Is your kernel selfcompiled or the one from debian? In both case you
must install the pcmcia-modules. In the last ase you have to compile
the pcmcia-modules your self the following:

apt-get install pcmcia-source
cd /usr/src
tar zxvf pcmcia.tgz
cd modules
cd pcmcia-versionnumber

read the installations-tips
