yes, this is a debian 'feature'... the modules.conf file is generated by
/sbin/update-modules from the files in /etc/modutils, so if you wish to add
the above line to modules.conf, create a file in /etc/modutils, call it
nvvideo or something, and put that line in it. then as root run
/sbin/update-modules and it should generate a new modules.conf with that
line in it (as well as lines for all of the other files in /etc/modutils)
and you shouldn't have to worrry about it any more.
