Kill criteria is "freely (beer) distributable for non-commercial as well
as commercial use", even if it is only allowed in binary form, without
further restrictions. If there is a choice between equivalent OpenSource
and proprietary tools, I prefer OSS, of course. For some things like the
Java runtime engine and Acrobat Reader 4 (sorry, xpdf is just not quite
there yet), there is not much of a choice, unfortunately. GPL Purists
can remove them, but their licenses still allow redistribution in binary
form without charge, even in commercial contexts, which is good enough
for me.
