Re: [debian-knoppix] re: connecting to broadband

Hi Donn, Jeff, Bob and others

Thanks for your response.

Previously I have setup broadband connection on RedHat, WinXP, WinME,
etc. without problem.

I use ADSL with dynamic IP and PPP0 connection. I went through many
times on;

Internet -> Connnection -> ADSL/PPPoE config
without problem nor warning indicated.

Network card detected by "PPPoE Access Concentrator"

As ROOT
# plog
no response

# ifconfig ppp0
ppp0      Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
          inet addr:203.78.78.29  P-t-P:203.78.85.88
Mask:255.255.255.255
          UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1492 Metric:1
          RX packets:4 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:5 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:3
          RX bytes:64 (64.0 b)  TX bytes:97 (97.0 b)

cat /etc/resolv.conf
found the DNS at time of configuration

However I still could not connect to Internet. I tested Mozilla and
Konqueror many times..

Another visible problem;
During exiting Knoppix following warning indicated

" .... can't umount CD please reset" compelling me to reset the PC to
remove the PC

B.Regards
