i'd like to know if i can down-/upgrade knoppix to a "clean" woody, sarge or sid after hd install. i frequently have the problem of unmet dependencies when trying to install packages i find interesting. is it possible and how hard would it be? i know knoppix isn't made for hd installation and i could as well install a "real" debian.. but i tried several times before and failed every time. the farthest i got was X with a mouse cursor that left behind artefacts and a running time of about 6 minutes before it crashed. now knoppix comes along and i see a chance of getting a working and easy debian that almost configured itself to my needs and only could need the one or other software to provide something worth neglecting windows ;) amd that's why i ask here. seriously i still need windows for the one or other program. but most of the things i need to do i can make in linux plus i have the opportunity to learn how a machine works softwarewise and learn from it. any help regarding that up/downgrade tia --lasty
