Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.38-5
Severity: normal

No sound due to failures loading kernel modules. Neither rebooting nor reinstalling kernel packages seem to fix the issue.

You are actually booting the kernel from package version 2.6.38-3, not
the newly installed 2.6.38-5. The modules depend on some functions that
were added in 2.6.38-5.

You may be using an old version of lilo, or some other boot loader that
does not follow the current boot loader policy.

Ben.
