In a nutshell, its a hair-brained scheme to get a few minor changes
to kernel-package into stable (s-p-u, not t-p-u, my mistake), to allow
linux-2.6 into volatile.

Even though I originally posted this, after speaking to Sven on IRC, on
furhter consideration I too am pretty dubious about the merrits of this
going into stable.
