Same experience here too.

AMD64 3000, nVidia v1.0.7174 drivers, FX5200 video card.

Debian unstable amd64 port with all the packages for everything.

Way way too slow to be usable.


Did you enable nvidias render acceleration? My card is the same than yours and peformance is good here.

Check this in xorg.conf:

Section "Device"
	...
	Option "RenderAccel" "true"
	Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "true"
	...
EndSection


It's nice to look at, very nice, but be warned: you will see crashes...
