Did you enable nvidias render acceleration? My card is the same than yours and peformance is good here.
Check this in xorg.conf: Section "Device" ... Option "RenderAccel" "true" Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "true" ... EndSection It's nice to look at, very nice, but be warned: you will see crashes... regards, Yves
