You'll also have to type this:
apt-get install x-window-system-core

to install the X server and fonts.
Also consider:

apt-get install kdegraphics kdemultimedia kdenetwork kdeutils kdeadmin kdeedu 
kdeartwork kdeaddons kdesdk

to experience the full kde desktop ...
