This somewhat works but not in a clean way. It now produces compiler line 
like this:
++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I..     -O2 -O0 -g1 -Wall -fPIC -fno-exceptions 
- -fno-check-new -fexceptions -c comm.cpp

This is really messed up.

Actually, does anyone know a program that can do more than a graphical editor 
with compiler buttons? (The Makefiles I can write myself and will have to 
learn automake/autoconf myself anyway).

The same questions goes for HTML because Quanta+ is somewhat better in aiding 
but in input field does not even replace the umlauts :-(
