Is anyone working on something like that or if not where would be the
best place to start designing and implementing some utilities?
I'm not aware of any gradle helper tool. I suspect this could be a task for us (and maybe Damien could be interested) since we are the ones involved maintaining software built with gradle right now.
We could reuse and study the work already done on maven-debian-helper and create something like gradle-debian-helper.
