Idem: da console: Congratulation! Your system is prepared to represent
the euro char.
Grazie, solo che se poi funzionasse sarei piu' contento....(non va ne'
L'euro ne' il cent, nel senso che se premo Alt-Gr+ e (c) non scrivo
nulla.

Per quanto riguarda X sono allo stesso punto:
I fonts transcoded sono installati, Option "XkbLayout"  "it".
L'euro-test (da terminale in X), dopo aver verificato che non vedo il
simbolo,mi carica un fottio di fonts:
Your font does not have euro support. Trying installed X fonts

Dopo di che :
This program will be executed again with a terminal that loads an euro
font
(using 'x-terminal-emulator -fn "name_of_font")

Gdk-WARNING **:     ISO8859-1

riverifico che non vedo alcun simbolo dell'euro, e riparte con 
Your font does not have euro support. Trying installed X fonts.
