I should have answered this earlier, sorry.
On the Pootle main server, there are still quite a few files (Gaim,
Psi and xchat, for example) which were uploaded early on to test the
import and conversion functions. The Psi files tested out the import
of Qt Linguist files to PO format, for instance.
In any case, you don't start translating a project on Pootle unless
you have the permission of the language team leader for that
translation.
It might look as though you can simply launch into any project, once
you're registered, but that isn't the case. ;)
Pootle's upcoming currency procedures will ensure that the latest
version of each file is available on the server, and that
communication between that project and Pootle is continuous and
intuitive.
Access permissions on Pootle are already highly configurable.
