What's wrong with moving the %s in the translated string? May you give me
an example of a translation that can't be done with that construction?

The method used is not a hack, is a way to use less disk space and
memory.

Not yet. i18n is a secondary goal for hamm boot-floppies, so we haven't
put much effort in it. We will work on it for slink.

The problem with the consolefonts have been reported before (one of the
first translations was for Czech) (sp?).

I guess there's no need to rewrite Makefiles or scripts, as the final
user won't see them. For the message files I guess the lang/ approach is
the best we can get.
