Thanks, it's very helpful to know the tulip driver does work.

I did, those are the instructions I followed. But the translator just 
hangs. The --timeout option is not effective, and neither can I save the 
situation with screen, as the whole system is just hanging.

I did compile gnumach with a different version of tulip.c, though, as 
the original driver wouldn't detect my card.

Which version of the driver are you using?
