Bad news... :(
Yesterday (before sleep ;) ) I've started with etch netinst CD with the
following issues:
1) The installation program does not configure network, it replay with a
generic error, I tried to configure it into the shell and all works fine.
2) Installation complains at the end, with a problem when installing
kernel, this is part of the syslog:
Oct 12 22:18:14 kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
Oct 12 22:18:14 kernel: sda3: rw=0, want=4, limit=2

This is referring to the CDROM device (in this case I've used and
external Plextor to read a CD-RW)
This is the output of fdisk on HD
~ # fdisk /dev/discs/disc0/disc
The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 4427.
There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,
and could in certain setups cause problems with:
1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)
2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs
(e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)

OK, do you think it could be an HD media error? (syslog is clear!)
The disk was thown from an HP Intel wks and till now it was correctly
working.
The only other disk that I can try now is a 4.5 GB original scsi-wide HD
that come with the C200.
Do you think that a low-level format of the quantum 36GB with an adaptec
2940uw can help?
Any suggestion is welcome!!!! :)
FYI, K-class is the "server" version of C2xx. Difference is firmware,
PCI support, gfx support, and lack of HP-PB IO Card support
makes the K-class alot less interesting.
But has a "Tremendous CPU Power!!" ;) four 8200 shoud rocks enough for
example for an autobuilder, do you think? ;)
Given that HP (locally) is starting to scrap N-class, we might see more
folks offer those for parisc-linux developement.
Well! :)
Rumors here says that HP is dropping the PA-RISC cpu and that ITANIUM-2
will take the place, is true?
Thank You for your precious help!!!! :)
Ciao.
Fabio.
