Package: pandoc
Version: 2.9.2.1-1+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The --defaults option does not appear to look in $HOME/.local/share/pandoc/
it also does not appear to look into $XDG_DATA_HOME/pandoc/ to look
for the file mentioned in this option.

$ export XDG_DATA_HOME=$HOME/.local/share
$ pandoc -d options report.md
pandoc: options.yaml: openBinaryFile: does not exist (No such file or directory)

(This is in spite of the fact that $HOME/.local/share/pandoc/options.yaml exists.)

The man page mentions these two locations.

Regards,

Kapil.

Oops! Thanks!

As you pointed out, I misread the manual page.

Once the file was moved to $HOME/.local/share/pandoc/defaults/options.yaml it was found and it worked!

Marking this bug as done.

Kapil.

It looks as if you've put your options.yaml directly in the user
data directory rather than in the defaults subdirectory of that
directory: try `$HOME/.local/share/pandoc/defaults/options.yaml`.
