I've heard Ben speak about DDC (twice):

Since I have an interest in compilers I wanted to look a DDC which
being the work on one person is probably easier to understand than
looking at the sources to say GHC.

I tried to compile DDC under ghc-6.8.2, but that failed. It
probably requires a later version of GHC.
