Hehe, as said i was considering it, hadn't made a final decision :). I've just
uploaded a high priority hal and gnome-volume-manager. Its a cvs snapshot of
hal because it has by far the most mature hotplugging support, which makes it
the best candidate to get in sarge imho (although it's late). 

If you have problems with them please file bugs. See
http://freedesktop.org/Software/HalTraces how to get the best information to
debug hal problems.
