I've updated every library central to gnome, I've updated orbit2 and
other similar technologies. The problem remains, albeit in a slightly
different way. I read in the G2 release notes about deleting
/tmp/orbit-$user which I had found previously to make no difference.

Gnome-terminal, gnome-panel, yelp, &c are still not loading properly but
I now get the following error message from each (if I've removed
/tmp/orbit-$user before-hand):-

An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information
for gnome-terminal. Some of your configuration settings may not work
properly.

The app then crashes. Nautilus gives me the following error alongside
the above:-

Adding client to server's list failed, CORBA error: IDL:omg.org
	CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0
All further errors shown only in terminal

Session management doesn't work properly and there are obviously
problems connecting to corba and orbit but I have these packages at
their latest version so I remain, most humbly, baffled.
