anywhere in germany, on what the DB calls 'nahverkehr' (mostly RB and RE

people with more time than money sometimes use it to cover vast distances
within germany. a friend of mine used to do danish<->swiss border on a
more or less regular basis.

the quickest time that i found was 12:53, with 7 changes of train.

you can go to http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/ and check for routes there.
the important thing is to select 'nur Nahverkehr' from the drop box
labeled 'Verkehrsmittelwahl' to restrict the search to RE/RB trains.
