To create it, you use the "make" tool. To load it, you use a boot loader.

You use the commands "insmod" resp. "rmmod".

pages, O'Reilly & Associates; (May 2003); ISBN 059600222X is probably
what  you're  looking  for.  Although  Karim does not even attempt to
explain "everything".
