The schools in the city of Konsvinger uses TeacherTool on thin clients.
Their man in charge for the upkeep and maintenance was doing a vivid
presentation a couple of years ago.

I suspect they just compiled TeacgerTool from source, or something else
to use it, because they really liked it.

Yes we did use and still use Fl_TeacherTool:

We build it from source since there is no deb available (as far as I know). We use it to:

* Check which users are logged in at which ltspserver
* Send messages to all or selected users
* Log out all or selected users
* Remote control a users desktop
* Monitor (without control) a users desktop

The application does more, but basically that is what we use it for.

The drawback for Debian-Edu is that this only works with ltsp versions pre 5. We use it with ltsp-4.2. I think Robert is working on the version for ltsp5, since K12LTSP is also moving towards ltsp5. Robert is a K12LTSP user I think, and he wrote this application for that distro.

I have yet to see an application that could replace it. This is one of the reasons for us not using ltsp5 at the moment.

We have all our servers at one location and connect to all the schools via fibre. At the schools there are only thinclients and printers and no IT personel. We manage all our thinclients from our IT office at City Hall, it saves us a lot of travelling when we help students and teachers out. It's a very handy administration tool indeed.
