I believe it works the other way around: File RFP as part of getting
Debian developers more interested in your packages :-)
I have experienced several upcoming developers needing interesting stuff
to package and maintain.
And let us setup subversion repositories for group-maintainance of the
packages: It is easier to participate in co-maintainership than to take
on the full responsibility for a (possibly complex) package.
I suggest setting up separate repositories for each (small group of)
packages, instead of a single huge repository: In the future Debian may
restrict upload-rights so that you are allowed only to upload code you
are skilled in dealing with.

Great. Earlier contributions and relevant skills is off course
appreciated but not required to join debian-edu - you are most welcome!
