Hi Markus,
I could confirm this: apart from colors, KDE2.x always felt buggy and
clumsy, konqueror was not usable as web browser, kmail lacks several
features, openoffice integrates poorly etc.
Deciding to use backports for KDE3.1 brought me in some difficulties
(Linex Sources went away) - hence I now plan to upgrade my pr47 LTSP to
sarge. (Another reason is that kde3.1 settings disharmonize with kde
3.3 on newer workstations).
What is the most recommended way here? Is there any chance to apt-get
upgrade to sarge, or otherwise, which version to install from
(sarge-pr1?)?
Sarge not only brings a better look and feel, but also a huge amount of
additional educational software (incl. stopmotion).
Best regards
Ralf.
