The Design is such that a logo and Name about minidebconf will be automatially added. I am sending a screenshot of the site till now so You guys can get the idea. As you can see in the screenshot, the image will be behind the text.

Like I mentioned earlier, try to implement a slide instead of one image. You may borrow some ideas(like the gallery/slide for the cover page) from the university website : http://www.amrita.edu/
