As his own author says, it is a quick hack to fullfill an immediate need
until dpkg is fixed to handle it correctly

Would you suggest changing it to dots? I don't think that'll cause
problems for me. But why would it be better?

I guess 'pt' is interpreted as 'pt_PT' by default... this is not intended,
thus I will use pt_BR.
