Re: migrating to Debian gitlab



Gitlab Inc (gitlab.com) funded 60 days of work on debian packaging and
here is the summary. Detailed work log is available at

Now I'll start working on gitlab.debian.net and keep the package
updated. 20 more days of funding is left.

- Work started on 17th June 2015 (and it took 5 days to complete 1 day/8
hours)
- 21 new gems packaged
- 48 gem package updates (some multiple versions)
- 7 packages fixed
- setup test instance at gitlab.pxq.in (install from source)
- personal repo for staging packages when not ready to upload to debian
(https://people.debian.org/~praveen/gitlab/). The same repo now has
gitlab for jessie.
- File issues for syncing gem versions between debian and gitlab
- apt-get install from my personal repo started working in week 2 (23
Sep 2015)
- Rebase package with new releases - 8.1.0, 8.2.1, 8.3.0, 8.4.0 rc1, 8.5.8
- dbconfig-common was not working, so used postgres commandline to
configure database
- apt-get installed gitlab was running at gitlab.pxq.in in week 3 (27
Nov 2015)
- rugged_adapter was made default for gollum-lib
- gitlab package was lintian clean in week 4
- 8.2.1 was uploaded to experimental (23rd December)
- nginx was integrated in week 5
- accepted in debian experimental on 20 Jan 2016
- uploaded to debian unstable on 27th Jan 2016
- systemd was integrated in week 6
- migrated to testing after all rc bugs were fixed on 24 Feb 2016
- backporting to jessie started in week 6
- sendmail and letsencrypt configured to have email and https working in
week 7
- backporting to jessie complete in week 8
- git.pxq.in was setup on jessie as a test instance
- git.fosscommunity.in was setup as a production instance
