Yes, indeed, there is a bug in the service file shipped by lxdm
which breaks all other dms. Removing and hand adjusting the
display-manager.service helped.

Still, my question is open:

I mean, it seems there is no way to override what systemd believes
is correct.

Furthermore, systemd did respnd with 
	Error: File exists
which is not a very useful error message
