Well I personally find it impolite to prepare an NMU without prior getting in
touch with the maintainer...

Hmmm the bug lingers there a long time already and handicaps some other
software (including mine ;-) ).

I know, I'm currently already in contact with the release team concerning
other packages - and concerning the RC bug: There is already a bug report but
I failed to make it RC :-/.
