I don't - if we think the mail coorespondance of a bug report is not
something a user would like to receive, we're doing it wrong.

Either are the mails too technically and complicated. That is a fair
point, but I do not think it scares users away - if at all, it assures
them that their bug is in good hands (but if they want, unsubsribing
from it [except for the "bug closed" mail] should be easy, like
mentioned in the mail footer)

Or we think our own blame-assignments and bickering and argueing will
scare users away.  That is maybe the real reason we do not want to have
users be subscribed?  In that case, I think we should rather address
this point on our side and make our bug reports mail exchanges better to
read for everybody.
