The PTS already supports displaying the information that Kevin wants to
see, the only thing is that maintainers need to add that information
themselves. That is indeed because there's no central repository (yet) of
such metadata.

Recently many maintainers have been adding information about the version
control repository location of their packages to the PTS. Others have
included a link to the Alioth project or to an upstream homepage.

So it's possible already, just not everyone does it, and thus the
information is not available.
