I talked with elmo about it in Barcelona, last December.

He basically said that, as long as it's understood that he gets the
package back once gnupg2 is released, he has no problem with it.

FWIW, Ubuntu already has the package, in essentially the same form I've
been uploading it to Debian last week. Guess who Ubuntu's ftpmaster is...
