Hey, we're talking about *languages*...:-)
So, iso-639 is more adapted...and less likely to trigger flamewars
(which are over, btw).
Thanks for the nice example with xpath, btw....Until now, being perl
and xml chanllenged, I always have use the iso_xxxx.tab files, though
they are considered obsolete.
For Taiwan, you just need to seek for common_name in iso-3166
