f-prot-installer downloads both the scanner engine as well as virus
definitions from the vendor's FTP site. However, if they decide to
change FTP location, the layout of their tarballs or their own update
script, the installer will break. Would this warrant an update to stable?
May be, but, alas, given the license terms, Debian cannot distribute
f-prot. The installer package is just a workaround for this legal
obstacle. If there was something like a production quality Free virus
scanner, it would not be necessary.
BTW: The installer package also allows installing from a local file.
