I've send emails to debian-devel-announce, but not debian-user.  I'm
not too comfortable sending emails to lists where I don't participate
myself (I'm not subscribed to debian-user).

But I would be glad if someone else would announce it in other forums.

Yes, I agree.  And we should have popcon reports for all sorts of
users to get as good statistics as possible.
