Sure.

Yes, but in both cass I'll have to wait until all background processes have 
finished. In the UML case new background processes can be started via cron. 
That's impossible in a changeroot.

I'll try to investigate all problematic packages and file a bug as suggested 
by Bob Proulx. If there are unfixable ones (e. g. those which start 
non-daemon processes) I'll try UML or vserver.
