Well the features that I use most is the ability to copy in files
(replace configs) and to patch files.

I see. Well dpsyco is intended to be used after installation so
that will not be able to do this. But if dpsyco is installed
before many other things, the framework could be used to create a
dpsyco-debconfpreload package. But I think installing dpsyco first
can be problematic because it requires at least a shell installed.
