Okay, I'm now so pissed off with this, here's what's going to happen.
I strongly believe that this is an overreaction. Christian is willing to work with us to bring the package up to date, so there is no reason not to accept this. I suggest that someone (I could do it) sets up an Alioth project for surfraw, so that the non-DD's who are interested can more easily contribute (using cvs or subversion). This would also be nice since upstream is dead (according to Christian). Christian or I, or any other developer who wants to get involved, can do the actual uploads.

From what I have seen, Christian seems excited about having a surfraw package that is actively maintained, especially if he can be involved in it... so this seems like a good idea to me.

Does this seem reasonable?
