I strongly believe that this is an overreaction. Christian is willing
to work with us to bring the package up to date, so there is no reason
not to accept this. I suggest that someone (I could do it) sets up an
Alioth project for surfraw, so that the non-DD's who are interested can
more easily contribute (using cvs or subversion). This would also be
nice since upstream is dead (according to Christian). Christian or I,
or any other developer who wants to get involved, can do the actual
uploads.
From what I have seen, Christian seems excited about having a surfraw
package that is actively maintained, especially if he can be involved
in it... so this seems like a good idea to me.
Does this seem reasonable?
