This discussion isn't, or at least shouldn't be about causing problems
to the upstream maintainer. It is about deciding whether Debian needs to
be protected from him.
(For what it's worth, I think this is serious enough that removing mICQ
from Debian until it has been code reviewed and rejecting him as a
maintainer seems to be the appropriate action now.)
