  If the configuration language is rich enough, it should be possible to
make the base configuration file a conffile which includes the
automatically-generated part.

  Other than that, I agree with your comments.  A way to centrally
configure packages would be nice, but Debconf Is Not It.  Maybe joeyh
should rename it to debask or debwizard or something, to knock the point
into people's heads.
