Please allow me to clarify. When I said done, I meant the
kernel image package, as well as the kernel header packages now
``have .config [and] version information in a form that is suitable
to include in a Makefile.''
I do not change the kernel Makefiles, in the source or any
other package. That is up to the human to do (rembmer, kernel-package
is used by peopole who may not get the kernel-source package, and no
functionality of the kernel-package ever depends on you getting
debian official source packages).
Summary:
So, all you get from kernel-package is a makefile snippet. It
is not in the kernel source packaging, it is in /.usr/share/doc for
kernel-headers and kernel-image packages. There is no chance of
something breaking.
