You know, I have never _once_ seen anyone type '$ sendmail' to send
email. I often see '$ mail' used, and even use it myself for
nasty late-night emails to my cohorts. 'mail' lives in /usr/bin
as its common use would dictate. Granted, I do use 'sendmail' directly
to when debugging rulesets or to check delivery of email, but both of
those things I do feel like I'm doing in an administrative capacity.

wrongly so, as well. Mail::Sendmail is much safer to use from perl
scripts.
